Kenyan international Ayub Timbe’s fine run of form out in the Chinese Super League (CSL) continued on Sunday 26 August after the winger was involved in all three goals as his team, Beijing Renhe beat hosts Shanghai Shenhua 3 – 1 at Guiyang Olympic Center.
The Kenyan winger provided the assist for Senegalese forward Makhete Diop to open the scoring in the 11th minute and he was at it again with the second assist for Diop in the 27th minute before wrapping up a first opening 45 minutes with a goal for himself in the 39th minute after picking a pass from Wang Gang.
Former Chelsea FC forward, Senegalese Demba Ba, completed what was a fine outing for African players, with the consolation goal for the hosts in the first minute of added time, to see the clash end 3 – 1.
Timbe, who spent the first part of 2018 as a loanee at Heilongjiang Lava Spring, has returned with a big impact at Renhe, so far earning six starts and rising from the bench twice, and netting six goals as the team charges for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League places.
The win propelled Renhe above Shangah Shenhua on the CSL standings, with the latter now in sixth place on 27 points while the hosts drop to seventh on 26 points with each having played 20 matches.
With 10 games remaining in the season, Renhe are 12 points off the AFC Champions League places.
