Four-time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Ulinzi Stars endured yet another frustrating afternoon at Moi International Sports Center (MISC) Kasarani, having to dig deep for a 1 – 1 draw with Mount Kenya United in one of the round nine clashes staged on Wednesday 23 January.
A dominant start from the visitors couldn’t yield goals as a number of chances went begging in the early stages before being stung by a John Ndirangu strike late in the opening half but Ulinzi Stars, who seemed destined for a third loss of the season, had Bernard Ongoma to thank after poking in the equalizer in the 90th minute.
Meanwhile, Tusker FC had to come from a goal down at Ruaraka Stadium, to beat Chemelil Sugar 2 – 1, marking a return to winning ways after a two-match lull.
Biko Tindi’s 25th-minute goal handed Chemelil Sugar the lead but Mike Madoya levelled in the 45th minute before Boniface Muchiri wrapped up the points with an 83rd-minute goal.
At Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, Steven Waruru scored the lone goal in the 65th minute as Sofapaka saw off Posta Rangers 1 – 0.
