Sofapaka president Elly Kalekwa has stated that his side should be bagging titles every year following the recent changes in the team’s technical bench.
American Melis Medo was dismissed and his place taken by his assistant John Baraza. Medo has since rejoined Mt. Kenya United.
Asked what necessitated the changes, Kalekwa said the desire to bag silverware is the reason his side opted to restore Baraza as head coach. Sofapaka last bagged Silverware in 2014 when they defeated Posta Rangers in the Gotv Shield final.
“Sofapaka is a big team and it should be winning titles every season. We spend a lot of money to run this team and as such the team has to deliver,” he said.
He Congolese businessman further expressed his confidence in former Sofapaka great John Baraza who he believes is capable of leading the team. Sofapaka is in the process of getting an assistant coach for Baraza.
“We have good players, we will beef up the technical bench by getting Baraza an able assistant coach to work with. We want to win a title at the end of the season,” he added.
Sofapaka will play Zoo FC on Sunday 27th January in Machakos
