Inform Ochieng rescues Ulinzi in Nakuru as KCB stretch unbeaten run with MKU win

Match day 13 of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) continued on Monday 11 February with three matches lined up across various venues in the country.

The action saw Ulinzi Stars deny Western Stima a second consecutive victory by holding the Kisumu based side to a 1-1 stalemate at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

7th goal

League top scorer Enos Ochieng, netted his seventh goal of the season with virtually the last kick of the game deep in stoppage time to cancel out David Omengo’s 5th minute opener.

The draw is Ulinzi’s eighth of the campaign and sees them move level at 14 points with Kakamega Homeboyz but they still remain in 11th place as a result of an inferior goal difference. Sixth place Stima on the other hand tie Sofapaka at 20 points.

Elsewhere in Machakos at the Kenyatta Stadium, KCB continued their upturn in form by defeating Mt. Kenya United 2-0 to stretch their unbeaten run to eight matches.

Unbeaten run

The Bankers made a woeful start back to the topflight this season by losing four of their opening five matches to sit bottom of the standings. But changes in the technical bench have galvanized the side who now move up to 9th on the log with 15 points while MKU remain second from bottom with nine points.

The other match of the day saw Sony Sugar and Chemelil Sugar battle to a 0-0 draw in Awendo.

The point sees Chemelil move out of the relegation zone and into 15th place with 10 points, though that could change as the round is set to continue on Tuesday.
