Sharks to host Bandari in first meeting since Super Cup final

Kariobangi Sharks will on Saturday 16 February at the MISC Kasarani play host to Bandari FC in a round 14 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) fixture, one of the nine that have been scheduled for the round with the clash being the first between the two sides since they contested the 2019 SportPesa Super Cup final in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania three weeks ago.

The game is also the only fixture that will receive live coverage on KTN Burudani as well as the KPL Facebook page.

1-0 win

Sharks prevailed over Bandari at the National Stadium in Dar to seal a first title outside home soil thanks to Harry Mwendwa’s strike that sealed a 1-0 victory and both sides will be keen to register the three points that apart from bragging rights and revenge, will also have significant impact on the league standings.

Bandari currently sit joint top with Mathare United, both at 25 points and a win for them will see them move clear at least for 24 hours before Mathare take on Zoo FC on Sunday.

Sharks, who are 6th with 21 points, can reduce the four point cushion and stay within course of challenging for the title.

Another highlight clash of the round will be on Sunday when 3rd place Sofapaka do battle with 4th place Gor Mahia at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

Both teams are separated by a single point in the congested top half of the table that has the top seven teams separated only by five points.

The clash was to be played on Saturday but travel logistics on the part of Gor following their CAF Confed Cup away fixture in Angola on Wednesday forcing the date change.

Sofapaka are riding high following the coaching change that saw Mellis Medo replaced by John Baraza. Batoto Ba Mungu are unbeaten in seven matches, winning their last five including a 4-1 dismissal of Mathare in the previous round.

Footing regained

Gor too on their part have also found form following a slow start to their title defence though they do come into this fixture off the back of a loss from their continental assignment.
