Oden Charles Mbaga, a top referee from Tanzania has been banned from all football activities for life, after being found guilty of taking bribes to influence .
Mbaga has also been fined approximately Kshs 20m by the world football governing body, FIFA.
FIFA’s Ethics Committee handled the case which was opened in July 2018 and was later ruled as breach of FIFA Code of Ethics
FIFA told Reuters News Agency that the ban relates to bribes “to manipulate several national and international matches between 2009 and 2012” with no further details of the games given.
Former international referee Ibrahim Chaibou from Niger was last month also banned for life and fined Ksh 20m after FIFA also found him guilty of taking bribes.
