English side Hull City has announced a one year extension to their shirt sponsorship deal with Kenyan betting firm, SportPesa.
The two parties’ partnership commenced in 2016 with Hull City then playing in the Premier League, and was due to end at the close of this season.
The sponsorship will thus continue through the 2019-20 season.
Apart from Hull City, SportPesa also sponsors Premier League Club Everton and Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia as well as AFC Leopards.
As quoted on Hull Live, the club’s head of Commercial, Joe Clutterbrook said, “We’re thrilled to be able to continue working with SportPesa. The partnership has delivered some really exciting and worthwhile projects over the last three seasons and we are looking forward to continuing that into 2020.
“The club would like to thank the team at SportPesa for their ongoing support and we see the renewal of our partnership as evidence of the fantastic working relationship we have.”
Sportpesa Director, Adam Beighton noted: “This partnership was a monumental move for SportPesa when it was signed back in 2016, as it underlined the global ambitions of the company.
“We’re incredibly proud of the work we have carried out with Hull City and the club has played a very important part in our company’s growth over recent years.
“On the same note, we feel this partnership has been hugely valuable to Hull City in terms of growing the club’s international fan base and offering exposure throughout Africa and beyond.”
Courtesy of the partnership, Hull City visited Kenya and faced Gor Mahia at Kasarani in May 2018 while in 2018, a select team from the Kenyan Premier League toured England for a friendly match.
