Chemelil Sugar head coach Francis Baraza has been mentioned among the potential candidates for the vacant AFC Leopards assistant coach’s position as the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants look to stabilize their rocking ship.
However, according to the coach, there has been no approach from AFC Leopards just yet, though he says if a move is made, he will consider it seriously, if the offer is worthwhile.
The coach is on his second stint at Chemelil Sugar and notes that he is happy at his work station but will not shut out good offers should the chance come by.
“As we speak, I am the head coach at Chemelil Sugar. I have also heard about the Leopards link but I can confirm there is no approach yet from them.
“If one comes, I am very open to considering it and if it looks fulfilling, I will sit down with my bosses and deliberate about a move. This however should not be misconstrued to mean I am unhappy at Chemelil; since coming back, I have had a very good time and the support has been great,” he told Soka.
Apart from Baraza, another name mentioned in line with the job is Mickey Weche’s. A former AFC Leopards defender, Weche has previously served in the same role at the club.
Former Harambee Stars head coach Stanley Okumbi has also been linked with a move to the club, as Technical Director.
Earlier in February, former AFC Leopards and Harambee Stars forward Boniface Ambani rejected the assistant coach’s role, noting that the approach was not proper.
