Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Nichoals Muyoti has enjoyed a great start at the team since making the switch from Nzoia Sugar FC and he is hoping the good spell continues even when he leads the team against champions Gor Mahia, in the next game.
The two sides are set to square it out on Wednesday 13 March, and Homeboyz had the perfect warm up for the clash with a 6 – 0 hammering of Mount Kenya United at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos in their last match, on Saturday 3 March.
Muyoti termed it a great motivation to his charges, especially the forward players and further lauded his defenders for playing to the tune, by keeping a clean sheet on the day.
“For us it was a great outing; scoring six goals and not conceding is great and any team would want that. We are going to a tougher match next and the boys will want to pick a positive result there as well so I would say it is very motivating to go to the Gor Mahia game on the back of this win,” he told Soka.
What to expect
Having recently faced another title contender – Sofapaka – Muyoti believes his charges have a taste of what to expect in the Gor Mahia game.
Just like in the Sofapaka game, which ended 2 – 2 on his touchline debut, the coach knows his side will be the underdogs but he is only focused on his team’s strengths and acknowledges they will try and utilise that to the fullest.
“Both Sofapaka and Gor Mahia are challengers for the title so matches against them will always be tough but we are not used to any easy matches in the league anyway.
“We will craft our strategy and we will play our game. We respect them but on the match day we will go seeking a positive result,” he added.
Homeboyz will have the advantage of more rest days before they take on Gor Mahia who are set to face Zamalek in their fourth Group D match on Sunday 10 March in Cairo, Egypt, before flying back home for the clash.
