Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga has been named in Kashiwa Reysol’s starting XI squad for their 2019 J. League Cup Group B opener against FC Tokyo to be played today Wednesday 6 March at the Kashiwa Hitach Stadium from 1PM EAT.
It is his first start for the Japanese second tier side this season and comes after he came off the bench over the weekend in the league win over Machida Zelvia after he had been unused in the opening match of the season.
Reysol are the only team in Group B outside the top division with Sagan Tosu and Vegalta Sendai the other teams in the group.
Kashiwa have won their opening two league games for a perfect start in the J2 and lie in third place in a three-way tie while today’s opponents are also up in the top tier lying in 3rd place with four points from their opening two.
The J. League Cup is the oldest professional football tournament in Japan. Reysol have won the tournament twice with their latest victory coming in 2013.
