Second half goals from Enosh Ochieng and Ezekiel Okare aided Ulinzi Stars to their fourth win of the season, beating visitors Bandari FC 2 – 1 at the Afraha Stadium on Sunday 10 March.
Yema Mwana did score to cancel out Enosh’s penalty goal but Okare scored late to hand Bandari their second defeat of the season.
The match had a slow start and only burst to life in the second half. In the opening exchanges, Bandari had a penalty shout ignored by referee Anthony Ogwayo when James Saruni collided with Hassan Abdalla and Okare on the other end missed a good chance after being set up well by Enosh Ochieng.
The second period was a different script, as in the 53rd minute, a collision between Bernard Odhiambo and Ezekiel Okare saw the referee point to the spot.
Enosh stepped up and took his time before sending Faruk Shikhalo the wrong side and slotting in the opener in the 55th minute.
The game would however swing to Bandari’s favor and persistent pressure saw them win a free kick outside the Ulinzi box in the 69th minute. A low delivery in the box was parried by James Saruni, and Yema Mwana followed up to slot home for the equalizer.
Ulinzi Stars started off again, pumping balls into the Bandari area, missing some clinical chances before the winner finally came in the 85th minute after Okare directed home a rebound off the post from Enosh’s initial header.
KCB 2 – 0 Nzoia Sugar
In another game on the same day, KCB were 2 – 0 winners over Nzoia Sugar through goals from Bethwell Warambo in the 45th minute and Chrispinus Onyango in the 53rd minute.
