MKU comeback falls short as Vihiga claims win

Vihiga United claimed all three points against Mt. Kenya United as the visiting side secured a hard-fought 3-2 win in a round 18 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) fixture played at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos on Saturday 16 March.

Chris Masinza struck a double with Lawrence Luvanda, on loan from AFC Leopards, scoring the other goal as Vihiga claimed vital three points in their race to avoid the drop come the end of the campaign.

Spirited efforts

Vihiga had surged to a 2-0 lead in the first half but spirited efforts in the second half saw the hosts try a comeback which eventually fell short leaving Mellis Medo’s charges with their third defeat on the trot.

MKU still remain rooted at the bottom of the standings with 12 points while the three points are a big boost for Vihiga who came into the match third from bottom but now move up to 13th with 18 points.
