AFC Leopards begun their 2019 FKF Shield Cup campaign with a dominant 4-0 thrashing of third tier side Kitale Transfoc in the two team’s round 32 encounter played at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Saturday 16 March.
Goals from Isaac Oduro, Brian Marita, Vincent Oburu and Marcel Kaheza propelled Leopards to the win and into the last 16 stage of the tournament.
Oduro who was named captain for the day, got the ball rolling with a goal as early as the 12th minute when he dispatched a penalty that had been won by Marita, who was throughout a thorn in the side of the Kitale based team.
Leopards could have been 2-0 up going into half time but Wai Yeka's effort minutes to the break was ruled out for offside.
Sadly though, that was the Congolese striker's last piece of action as he was replaced at the interval with injury with Jaffery Owiti his replacement.
The change would bear fruit immediately as Owiti assisted Marita for 2-0 four minutes after the restart.
Oburu would add a third on the hour mark with another substitute, Kaheza, putting the seal on a commanding performance with a fourth goal with two minutes left on the clock.
