Terry Engesha and Topistar Situma each struck a hat-trick as defending Kenya Women Premier League champions Vihiga Queens ran out 8-0 winners on the road to Spedag Ladies at the Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday 23rd.
Alex Alumira’s girls maintain a perfect start to the 2019 season with five wins on the trot in their opening five.
Queens took the lead through on-form Situma in the 3rd minute and were then kept at bay for a better part of the first half. Situma however, was to make it 2-0 in the 39th minute for a comfortable lead at the break.
Upon resumption, the floodgates continued with Terry Engesha scoring the third after just three minutes. Centre-half Phelisters Kadari would not be left out as she made the most of a Situma pass to make it 4-0.
Situma completed her hat-trick in the 54th minute and set up Mercy Oginga for the 6th three minutes later. The stage was now left for Harambee Starlets forward Engesha who wrapped up the day’s business with two goals to put the rout at 8-0.
Meanwhile, 2016 champions Thika Queens suffered their first home loss of the season courtesy of a Kisumu All starlets side that looks like they are leaving nothing to chance this season.
Starlets got grabbed all three at the Thika sub-county stadium courtesy of a lone Mercy Airo strike to climb up to third on the 16-team log.
