KCB, Congo Boyz and SS Assad are through to this season’s FKF Shield Cup quarter-finals after coming through their last 16 ties played Saturday 30 March.
KCB were the biggest winners of the day after thumping Vihiga Sportiff 4-0 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Harambee Stars U23 forward Chrispinus Onyango netted a brace with Simon Abuko’s lone strike and a Brian Mukoma own goal helping Frank Ouna’s men to the win.
The other two matches needed post-match spotkicks to determine after they both ended in similar 0-0 scorelines after normal time.
Congo Boyz saw off Mwatate United 5-4 while SS Assad prevailed in a nervy shootout against Naivas FC that ended 9-8.
Four matches were initially penciled in for Saturday but Siaya based Dero FC were unable to honour their away fixture to Bidco United at the Thika Stadium thus allowing Bidco to progress with a walkover of 2-0.
Four matches remain before the round is concluded and they have been spread between Sunday and Monday.
AFC Leopards will be in action on Sunday while defending champions Kariobangi Sharks will take to the field on Monday.
