Mdam starts second successive game as Sharks name squad for Gor showdown

Kariobangi Sharks new recruit Athanas Mdam, has been handed another start, his second in a row, as William Muluya names his squad that will take on Gor Mahia in a Kenyan Premier League game round 19 fixture set for the Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Saturday 30 March from 3PM.

Signed during the ongoing mid-season transfer window from Tanzaian Premier League (TPL) side Singida United, Mdam made his debut for Sharks during the previous round fixture against Tusker FC that ended on a sad note with the side being humbled 3-1.

Baptism of fire

If that was a baptism of fire for the pacey winger then today’s game against the defending champions in Kisumu is much more than that.

His pace and trickery will be needed though as Harry Mwendwa is out injured. The game aslo provides him with a chance to show to Gor what they would have gotten if they would have kept on with their pursuit of him.

Defender Tom Teka returns to the squad after spending some time out with injury and he replaces Michael Bodo who is suspended.

Three wins

Sharks have won their last three encounters against Gor with this season’s first leg encounter ending 1-0 with Duke Abuya with the goal.

A win though for Gor on Saturday will see them ascend to the summit of the league with 35 points.

Below is the squad:

Starting XI: John Oyemba (GK), Tom Teka, Erick Juma, Geoffrey Shiveka, Nixon Omondi, Sven Yidah, Patillah Omotto, Duke Abuya, Athanas Mdam, Sydney Lokale, Erick Kapaito
