Euronuts will face LUFA Graduates in the Central Region Chapa Dimba na Safaricom Boys final while Barcelona Ladies will be up against Limuru Starlets in the Girls Final.
Euronuts edged Irigiro from Maragwa with a solitary goal while LUFA beat Tetu Boys from Nyeri 2-0 in the boys semifinals played on Saturday 13th April at the Thika Sub County Stadium.
Barca Ladies registered the biggest win of the day, thrashing Kirinyaga Dynamos 4-1 in the first girls’ semi while Limuru Starlets registered a slim 1-0 win over JYSA to qualify for the central region finals for the second time.
Barcelona Ladies 4-1 Kirinyaga Dynamos
Barcelona Ladies from Laikipia thrashed Kirinyaga Ladies 4-1 in the first girls’ semifinal match. Jane Njeri scored all the four goals for Barca in the 8th, 23rd, 40th and 50th minutes respectively while Dynamos consolation was scored by Hellen Nzilani.
LUFA Graduates 2-0 Tetu Boys
Laikipia Unity Football Association (LUFA) Graduates edged Tetu Boys 2-0 in a fast-paced boys semifinal match.
Lufa could have taken the lead as fast as the first minute of the match after Johnson Gikonyo won the ball from Tetu Boys custodian Emmanuel Mwaniki but he placed his shot inches wide. He made amends 6 minutes later, looping the ball past Mwaniki after a defence-splitting pass from Vincent Mugo.
Michael Githinji could have leveled matters just before the breather but Lufa custodian Kelvin Ndiu did well to deny him.
Fredrick Lodan doubled the lead for Lufa in the 59th minute after a goalmouth melee and this was the match’s last goal, ensuring Lufa qualify for the region’s final set to be played on Sunday 14th April at the same venue.
LUFA Head Coach Joseph Jagero says the team’s target is to get to the National finals in Meru and expose the youngsters to big teams.
“This team is composed of players who just graduated from our four-year programme and the target now is to expose them to big teams hence we aim to get to the National finals and do well. It will be great for these players,” Jagero said after the match.
LUFA lost by a solitary goal to Euronuts in last season’s Central Region final and coach Jagero is eager to meet the team again to avenge the loss.
“We were punished for a simple mistake by Euronuts but right now we are a different team altogether and no longer commit silly mistakes. We really look forward to meeting Euronuts again.” He said.
LUFA is supported by ranches around Laikipia; Ol Pajeta, Segera and Ol Karama who pay school fees and upkeep for the kids.
Limuru Starlets 1-0 JYSA
Limuru Starlets will for the second season running feature in the final of the Central Region Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Youth Tournament.
After a goalless first half, Edna Kwamboka scored the all-important goal in the 56th minute to win it for Limuru and ensure they storm into the final set to be played at the Thika Sub County Stadium on Sunday. They will face Barcelona Ladies in the final. Barca thrashed Kirinyaga Dynamos 4-1 in the first girls’ semi played at the same venue.
Euronuts 1-0 Irigiro Boys
Euronuts beat Irigiro Boys from Maragua by a solitary goal to qualify for the Central Region for the second year running with Lual Mengistu scoring the lone goal in the 11th minute.
Euronuts will face LUFA Graduates in the final set to be played on Sunday 14th April, a repeat of last year’s final.

Winners in both the boys and girls category will receive a cash price of KES 200,000 each and an opportunity to represent the central region in the national finals. The runners-up will also receive KES 100,000 each among other individualized prizes.
Already, Mombasa’s Shimanzi youth and Changamwe ladies, Kajiado’s Al Ahly and Kitale Queens from Rift Valley, Bishop Njenga Girls and Lugari Blue Saints from Western, Manyatta Boys and Ndhiwa Queens from Nyanza as well as Super Solico and St Mary’s Ndovea from Eastern have booked their tickets for the national finals where KES 1,000,000 is at stake.
This year, an all start team will be selected to attend a training camp in Spain during which they will play against local youth sides.
