Gor Mahia head coach Hassan Oktay has sensationally claimed that there are people out to derail the team and has called on every fan not to allow to be provoked by anyone or by the decisions that will be made on the pitch by the officials whenever the team is playing.
The claims were made before Gor’s game against Bandari played in Kisumu on Tuesday and stemmed from the team’s previous game against Ulinzi Stars also in Kisumu that saw the soldiers awarded a contentious penalty that denied K’Ogalo all three points and briefly saw them lose their hold on top spot.
This as well as a grueling fixture period that will see the team play a game at least every two days for the remainder of the month, makes Oktay feel that there are other forces out there working to bring down the club.
In a post shared on the club’s Facebook page, Oktay is quoted as saying, “We are ready for Bandari… from the past few matches, we realized there’re ‘games’ going on. I am calling on all fans to support the team as a unit, be calm and never be provoked by anyone or decisions made against us on the pitch because the aims are clear – people are out to destroy Gor Mahia. We are ready for such challenges.”
Gor’s hectic fixture period started on Friday 19 with a draw against Kakamega Homeboyz in Kakamega, they have since played twice and have seven more matches scheduled in the next 17 days.
Up next is a tie against Mt. Kenya United to be played in Machakos on Thursday.
