Some rhythm has been instilled in the AFC Leopards fold in recent times with the team currently on an eight – game unbeaten run and following the Sunday 28 April win over Bandari, head coach Cassa Andre Mbungo stated his satisfaction at the team’s rise.
Goals from Vincent Oburu and Whyvonne Isuza served the three points that moved Leopards to 10th on the log with 34 points and the coach spared a few words to congratulate his boys after the victory at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
He was particularly pleased with the fact that his charges could keep good concentration in the whole game, having suffered some late concessions in their earlier matches.
“We did well; our main undoing going to the game was the loss of concentration towards the final minutes but this time we played well in the closing stages and I want to thank the players for that,” he said.
The coach did not have the smoothest of starts to his tenure with the team but he can only look forward with hope for a strong finish, and he knows just how much the fans and management have done to stabilize the side.
Dedicate to fans
“I am also happy with the progress of the team and the fact that we are showing good focus and picking points with some consistency. This win, I’d like to dedicate to our fans and all the stakeholders at the club, who have enabled the team get to this point. We are focused on stabilizing even more,” he added.
Leopards will embark on a tour of Bungoma in their next assignment, as they are scheduled to face Nzoia Sugar on Wednesday 1 May at Sudi Stadium.
