Former Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Sony Sugar staged a great fight in the second half to come from a goal down and beat visiting Vihiga United 3 – 1 at the Awendo Green Stadium in one of the Round 27 matches staged on Wednesday 1 May.
Patrick Okulo gave Vihiga United the dream start with an 18th minute goal that the visitors defended to the break, and for a whole hour.
Things however changed in the 63rd minute, when Derrick Otanga leveled matters for the home team.
Vihiga United opted for defending their slim lead but it proved to be a bad strategy as Enoch Agwanda fired home Sony’s second in the 84th minute.
With the visitors rushing out to seek the equalizer, Otanga stung again in the 86th minute, with his second of the day and third for his side, taking the Millers to fifth place on 41 points while Vihiga United stays 16th on 21 points.
Chemelil – Sharks
Meanwhile, in Awasi, Kariobangi Sharks also came from behind to pick a point in a 2 – 2 draw with hosts Chemelil Sugar.
Junior Adeyefa opened the scoring in the 19th minute but that was cancelled by Vincent Wasambo’s 40th minute goal to take the game to the break at a tie.
Selassie Otieno restored Chemelil Sugar’s lead with a 62nd minute penalty, but Wasambo was at it again with a 71st minute goal that saw the teams share spoils.
With the result, Sharks stay ninth with 36 points while Chemelil stays 13th on 30 points.
