FC Talanta posted arguably the most impactful result of the weekend as the National Super League (NSL) season 2018/19 entered Round 31 on Sunday 5 May, with a 2 – 1 beating of Ushuru FC, which to a big extent shook the race for promotion.
In the clash staged at Camp Toyoyo, Chris Owino handed Talanta the lead in the 36th minute, and they held on going to the break until Job Tinyo double the advantage in the 58th minute.
Brian Yakhama reduced the deficit for Talanta in the 69th minute from the spot, but they were not going to break a resolute FC Talanta, who held on for the maximum points.
The loss knocked some wind of Ushuru FC’s sails definitely, but the biggest beneficiaries on the day were Nairobi Stima, who leap from fourth to second and right into the promotion picture, with a 1 – 0 win over St. Joseph’s Youth in Karuturi, Naivasha.
At the Thika Stadium, table toppers Kisumu AllStars stayed in pole position after they played out a 0-0 draw with Bidco United.
Four more matches will be played on Monday, wrapping up the round.
