RS Berkane and Zamalek FC will both face each other in this season’s CAF Confederations Cup final after they both came through their respective semi-final matches played over the weekend.
Moroccan side Berkane overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit to Tunisian side CS Sfaxien by winning 3-0 at home on Sunday 5 May to progress 3-2 on aggregate.
Issoufou Dayo and Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba who both scored in the 5-1 second leg thrashing of Gor Mahia in the quarter-finals, netted against Sfaxien with Omar Nemssaoui adding the other goal.
Berkane dumped Gor out of the competition with a 7-1 aggregate win after claiming victory in both legs.
Another side that faced Gor in this season’s competition is through to the final as well, Egyptian heavyweights Zamalek produced a 0-0 draw away to another Tunisian side in Etoile du Sahel to claim a 1-0 aggregate win.
Zamalek had won the first-leg at home courtesy of Mahmoud Kahraba’s lone strike.
The five time African champions were pooled in the same group together with Gor and lost in Nairobi before revenging at home in Alexandria.
Berkane will host the first-leg final encounter at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane in a fortnight on May 19 with the second-leg coming up a week later on the 26th at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
