After a great run in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL), Sofapaka FC head coach John Baraza is set for one more stern test against reigning champions Gor Mahia and hopes his charges can keep the tempo.
Placed second in the KPL log with 56 points, Sofapaka won their 15th game of the season by edging out Western Stima 2-0 on Wednesday 8 May at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos as the season entered round 28.
Speaking after the game, Baraza stated that his team is ready to take on Gor and the ambition in the game will definitely be to reduce the seven -point gap that separates the sides, with Gor having 63 points.
“I noticed some small mistakes on the team today which we will have to rectify and be keen as we to take on Gor, and with good preparedness, I believe by Sunday when we face Gor will be ready,” he said
Baraza’s side held their own well to pick three points, a great improvement from the game against Tusker earlier, in which the team let slip a two -goal lead to draw 2-2. Baraza hopes to see no more slip ups.
“Today’s game was good and the team really performed well considering that in the last game we drew with Tusker which was a pain to the team; it was like a loss,” he added.
Sofapaka will face Gor Mahia on Sunday 12 May in Machakos.
