The Kenya national team Harambee Stars provisional squad for the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt has been named with a very few surprises springing out of head coach Sebastien Migne’s bag.
The biggest omission from the team will perhaps be Zambia based Jesse Were. The red hot Zesco United forward has been overlooked, unsurprisingly so, going by Migne’s previous squads while another notable absentee is AFC Leopards utility man, David Cheche Ochieng.
Avirre, Ovella, Mbamba
As the two miss out, Sofapaka forward John Avirre will make it to the squad, as well as Masud Juma and Sweden based Ovella Ochieng. Also making it to the squad is Zimbabwean born Christopher Mbamba, a naturalized Kenyan.
Kariobangi Sharks keepers Brian Bwire and John Oyemba, Bandari’s Farouk Shikhalo and St. George’s Patrick Matasi are all in the 30 man list while Joseph Okumu is the surprise inclusion in the defence which also has Philemon Otieno, Brian Mandela, David Owino, Joash Onyango, Aboud Omar, Erick Ouma, Musa Mohamed and Bernard Ochieng.
