Bandari Football Club were on Tuesday 14th, 3-1 winners over Chemelil Sugar FC in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) played at the Mbaraki Sports Club from 3 pm.
Despite taking the lead in the 5th minute, the visitors Chemelil soon went down through a Yema Mwana equalizer and a David King’atua penalty as the hosts took a 2-1 half time lead.
In the second half, Yema would compound to the visitors’ woes with his second of the day as Bandari ran out 3-1 winners.
Chemelil had done themselves justice by tucking away a 5th-minute penalty kick but this lasted only ten minutes as in-form Yema restored parity after lackluster defending from the visitors.
At the half-hour mark, Chemelil would themselves handle the ball in the box hence gift Bandari a chance to up in the match, one the dockers dully accepted through King’atua David who made it 2-1.
Winger Abdallah Hassan would not see the rest of the first half after pulling a hamstring and had his place taken by Moses Mudavadi five minutes to the break.
In the second half, King’atua sought a brace but his long range effort in the 49th minute went just wide. Ten minutes later, a rampant Bandari would pin Chemelil in their own have with Shaban Kenga latching onto a Mudavadi cross but Morgan Ambuka in goal for the visitors denied him.
Ambuka however, would not be equal to Yema’s 70th minute surge forward as he was rounded up before the Congolese forward slotted the ball into an empty net for 3-1.
It would end this way, a result that sends Bandari to within one point off second-placed Sofapaka who have played a match more.
