Zoo FC moved to within one point of safety in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) as they claimed a 2-1 win over Western Stima at the Kericho Green Stadium on Wednesday 15 May, a day that also saw KCB claim a slim 1-0 win over AFC Leopards at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Zoo, who came into their clash against Stima lying second from bottom on the standings, came from a goal down to claim all three points in front of their home fans as goals from Derrick Anami and Danson Chetambe lifted them up to third from bottom with 28 points, one point away from safety.
Stima on their part remain in 13th place with 31 points after suffering their 11th loss of the season.
Elsewhere in Machakos, a Kennedy Owino first half strike was all KCB needed to claim all three points against AFC Leopards whose winless run stretches to four games now.
The win, which is the Bankers’ second in six outings, sees them remain in 11th place but move up to 37 points.
Five matches were scheduled for Wednesday afternoon with one of those matches seeing Gor Mahia fail to move to within a single point to claiming this year’s title as they fell 1-0 away to Nzoia Sugar.
