Ulinzi Stars’ budding midfielder Ibrahim Shambi is growing from strength to strength with his latest call-up to the national senior team for the upcoming CHAN qualifiers adding to his rather impressive fledgling career.
The Kenyan U23 international was named in coach Sebastien Migne’s 32-man provisional squad that will hit camp ahead of the CHAN qualifier against Burundi slated for July.
It is a huge milestone one that shows that he is heading in the right direction and he is keen to repay the coaches faith who have entrusted him with such an opportunity.
“I think the call up shows the trust the coaches have in me, which is good, and more importantly it is a big psychological boost for me to do what I have been doing, while at the same time trying to get better at it.
“I have been at the U20 and U23 teams and this is a new step for me. It signifies growth and the start of a new challenge. The response I can give here is to work harder to not only be a better player but also help the national team, and my team, Ulinzi Stars,” he noted.
Shambi was part of the U23 side that lost at the U23 AFCON preliminaries to their counterparts from Sudan earlier in the year.
He however is focused on seeing out the season with Ulinzi and leading his team to a higher place finish on the league standings.
