Ulinzi Stars are hoping to bounce back from two straight losses when they travel to Awasi to take on Chemelil Sugar in the Sunday 19May Kenyan Premier League game at Chemelil Complex, but they will have to plan for it without a number of key players.
Regulars Bonaventure Muchika, and John Njuguna have been ruled out of the game, as is Brian Birgen, who has already missed two matches ahead of the Sunday one.
Muchika, who has established himself as a regular after returning from military training, will be left behind as he nurses a groin injury while Njuguna was down with malaria for the better part of the week and is yet to recover fully.
Birgen still missing
According to team doctor John Imboywa, as reported on the club website, the two will be out of the game together with Birgen, who has resumed training after suffering a deep cut in the face during the Nzoia game.
Birgen, according to the club site, is not yet fully fit for the game.
On a more positive front, the team will be boosted with the return of midfielders Daniel Waweru, Ibrahim Shambi and Boniface Okinyi.
Waweru returns after picking an ankle injury in April as the team faced Western Stima, while Shambi and Okinyi suffered thigh and groin injuries respectively as the team faced Bandari earlier this month at Mbaraki Sports Club.
Going to the game, Ulinzi Stars hope for recovery after back to back losses to Posta Rangers and Zoo FC, while on the other hand, Chemelil Sugar will be counting on home advantage after going winless in their last five matches, suffering four losses and a draw.
