Chemelil Sugar FC’s fight for survival took a big hit on Saturday 25 May as the Millers suffered a 0 – 1 loss at their Chemelil Complex at the hands of Mathare United in one of the three Round 33 matches staged on the day.
The all important goal of the game came in the first half courtesy of Chris Ochieng in the 15th minute after getting to the end of a miscued clearance from James Omino, who couldn’t handle James Kinyanjui’s cross.
The win sees Mathare United leapfrog Kakamega Homeboyz on the log to fifth place with 54 points, while Chemeliul Sugar stays 15th on 31 points but in real danger of dropping after Sunday’s matches.
In Awendo, Sony Sugar could not break visiting Nzoia Sugar in the Millers’ Derby, which ended 0 – 0 to see Sony consolidate their hold of fourth place, with 56 points.
Nzoia on the other hand, stays 12th with 38 points.
