Derrick Otanga may not have had SoNy Sugar’s last outing in the league go his way- despite his side recording a deserved 2-1 against Kakamega Homeboyz at the Bukhungu Stadium on Wednesday 22nd.
Otanga, withdrawn by coach Patrick Odhiambo when his team led 1-0 in a bid to protect their lead, did not manage a goal as he has been used to recently. Andrew Waiswa came back to haunt his former side, the center-back being responsible for SoNy’s two goals on the day.
It was an important win that placed Coach Odhiambo up there with the very bets in the league, 4th on the 18-team Kenyan Premier League table standings and Otanga hopes he can help him team to another win as the league heads to a close.
”I want just four more goals. If I cane get two today, and two in the last match, I will be the happiest person in the world,” he tells Soka.
SoNy Sugar takes on Nzoia Sugar at the Awendo Green Stadium from 1 pm today- an early kick-off clash because of the rainy season. A win has the potential to even spring the higher in the log, and Otanga- one of SoNy’s key men this season, says it is all about hard work.
”We have been more dedicated this time round and a lot of understanding in the team. Last season we were fighting relegation and we did well in the second leg of the season. I think we carried that form into this season.” he adds.
The 21 year old- rumored to be in the watchful eyes of AFC Leopards, has 13 goals to his name, five behind the division’s leading marksman Allan Wanga.
