Local referees across all three divisions in the country the KPL, NSL and Division One, all convened at the Gusii Stadium on Sunday 16 June for a three day training camp geared at enhancing their performances on the pitch.
The camp organized by FKF, saw 225 referees in attendance with day one seeing each of them go through a medical examination that included eye and blood pressure tests.
The camp will also see the officials taken through their paces to test their endurance, physical fitness and knowledge of the game.
Elsewhere at the FIFA 2019 Women’s World Cup currently ongoing in France, Kenyan female referee Mary Njoroge is set to officiate in her second match at the global tournament on Tuesday 18 as the fifth official when Italy take on Brazil in the final group match in Group C.
Njoroge, who was first in action in the clash pitting Japan and Scotland on Friday 14.
Two other Kenyan officials are set to officiate at the AFCON tournament scheduled to kick off on Friday. Peter Waweru and Gilbert Cheruiyot were named in the 56-man list of officials for the tournament with Waweru among the 26 centre referees and Cheruiyot among the 30 assistants.
