Former AFC Leopards head coach Rodolfo Zapata will not be handed a contract extension after his deal with Botswanan giants, Township Rollers came to a close at the end of the season.
The Argentine, who had a short, troubled stint with AFC Leopards in 2018, guided Rollers to the 2018/19 league title but in a statement, the club noted that a decision has been reached to part ways.
“Township Rollers FC management and executive committee have decided not to renew the contract of Mr. Rodolfo Zapata, hereby we part ways with him and wish him all the best for all his future endeavors,” a social media post from the club stated.
The statement from the club was followed shortly by a brief post by Zapata on Facebook, indicating that his next stop would be in the US, but without much detail.
In the meantime, former Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr has been linked with the Rollers job after tendering his resignation at South African side Black Leopards, which he helped avoid relegation from the top flight in the past season.
Reports from Leopards indicate that Kerr’s resignation was rejected by the club’s boss but it seems the Englishman will have his way.
