Posta Rangers will play in the KPL in next season’s domestic league campaign after they defeated Nairobi Stima 3-2 on aggregate in the two teams’ playoff encounter, this after the second leg tie of the match up played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday 19 June ended 1-1.
Francis Nambute scored early after just four minutes in Machakos, making Stima custodian Jacob Osano pay for redirecting a save into his path.
The goal would stand until the 47th minute when inform forward Dennis Oalo flicked the ball past Gradus Ochieng as Stima attempted a comeback which sadly fell short.
Rangers had won the first-leg fixture played at the Karuturi grounds in Naivasha on Saturday by two goals to one with Joakins Atudo and Nambute the heroes. Oalo netted the consolation for Stima.
The mailmen’s win continues the trend of KPL clubs never losing to their NSL opponents in the playoffs. Ever since the playoffs were first played in 2017, Thika United and Nakumatt FC retained their status in the topflight after overcoming Ushuru FC who featured in back to back seasons.
