Italian side ropes in Kenyan national and a former Maurizio Sarri trainee

U.S. Angri Calcio 1927 ASD, a club in the sixth division in Italy has announced that it has acquired the services of Kenyan born midfielder Peter Thiong’o who was once under the tutelage of current Juventus head coach Maurizio Sarri.

Angri, who play in the Italian Promozione announced the deal through its social media platforms going ahead to describe the 24 year old as “pure talent”.

Born in Kenya

Thiong’o was born in Mombasa but grew up in Empoli where he featured in the youth teams at Empoli FC, at the time the Tuscany club was under the stewardship of Sarri.

He has also featured for A.S.D. Olimpia Colligiana in his senior career.

Angri, formed in 1927 in Angri Salerno Southern Italy, play their home matches at the 3,000 seater Stadio Comunale Pasquale Novi and have never gone beyond Serie C (Italian 3rd division) in their 92 year history.
