AFC Leopards’ National Executive Committee (NEC) has on Friday 21 June asked one of the club’s favourite sons, former striker Boniface Ambani to step aside from his role as the head coach of the team’s youth side with immediate effect.
Leopards confirmed the above through their Facebook handle but the post fell short of giving details regarding the decision though it does come on the day that the club won against a petition filed in court by Ambani asking for this year’s club elections to be stopped.
Ambani asked the courts to intervene after he was denied the chance to vie for the position of chairman of the club.
The court ruled against the former Kenyan international and now the elections will go on as planned on Sunday 23 June.
Those who are vying for the position of chairman include, Dan Shikanda, Ronald Namai and Ben Musundi while Oliver Shikuku and Robert Situma are going for the position of secretary general.
Those vying for the treasurer position include Oliver Imbenzi and Maurice Chichi
