Bandari FC have taken things up a notch with the side preparing for their return to the continental stage with a training camp in South Africa.
The coastal outfit qualified for next season’s CAF Confederations Cup by winning the 2018-19 FKF Shield Cup and are looking to go one step further than the first round they managed back in 2016.
Coached by Bernard Mwalala, a squad of 22 left the country on Friday 21 June and are currently holding their sessions at the FN Rangers Sports Complex in Royal Road Maitland in Cape Town.
Two friendly matches have been lined up, one against PSL side Cape Town City and the other against a yet to be confirmed 3rd tier side before the team jets back on Friday.
The first round of the preliminaries of CAF’s second tier tournament will kick off in August for the first time as per the decisions of CAF’s executive committee.
But before then, Bandari are scheduled to take part in the CECAFA Kagame Cup tournament scheduled for next month in Rwanda and have been placed in a tough Group B alongside defending champions Azam FC (Tanzania), Mukura Victory Sports (Rwanda) and KCCA (Uganda).
