Kitale Queens are already thinking of season 3 of the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom despite winning the girls title just a few days ago.
The team beat Acakoro Ladies 4-2 on post-match penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time to win the girls title on Sunday 23rd June in Kinoru Stadium, Meru.
Kitale Queens Coach Justine Okiring says that is over now and their target is to defend their title next season.
“It was a tough game against Acakoro bearing in mind we had three important players injured ahead of the final. We were lucky to win through post-match penalties,” he said,
“All that is history now and what we need to do is to confirm that we were worthy finalists by winning the same title next season. Even as we celebrate victory, we have that in mind already.” He added.
He also appreciated Safaricom for developing and nurturing talent through the Chapa Dimba Tournament.
“Most of our player are students and the opportunity to play in the tournament is very key for their development. Nurturing talent at the grassroots level is very key and I really appreciate Safaricom for doing that through Chapa Dimba,” he said
“Next season will be tougher since teams are now aware that this is a good tournament and they will come very prepared to win.” He concluded.
