Tickets for the historical match between Kariobangi Sharks and Everton FC will go on sale from Monday 1 July at select SportPesa shops across Nairobi.
Sharks are set to play host to the English Premier League (EPL) side on Sunday 7 July at the MISC Kasarani as part of a friendly organized by betting firm SportPesa. The KPL side earned the chance to play against The Toffees as a result of winning the 2019 SportPesa Cup played earlier in the year in Tanzania.
The tickets will be available at a flat rate of Kshs 100 and will be sold up until the morning hours of matchday with the game scheduled to kick off from 4PM local time.
The game is a historic one for both teams. It will be the first time that Sharks are playing against a team from outside the continent let alone the EPL while for Everton it will be their first ever visit to the country and only their second visit to East Africa.
Marco Silva’s charges first visited the region in 2017 where they played against Gor Mahia in Tanzania in the first installment of the SportPesa sponsored friendlies.
Then under Dutch coach Ronald Koeman, Everton claimed a 2-1 victory over Gor with Wayne Rooney and Kieran Dowell scoring on either side of Jacque Tuyisenge’s equalizer.
The second installment in 2018 would see Gor travel to Everton after winning the 2018 SportPesa Cup where they lost again, this time going down 4-0.
The SportPesa Cup brings together teams from Kenya and Tanzania who are sponsored by the betting firm as well as other guest teams from the two nations.
Since the tournament was introduced in 2017, KPL sides have reigned supreme with Gor winning the first two editions.
