Kenyan duo of referees Peter Kamaku Waweru and Gilbert Cheruiyot will be on duty later on Monday 1 July at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The two have been named among the match officials for the Group D clash pitting Namibia against Ivory Coast at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.
While Kamaku will be slotting in as the center referee, Cheruiyot will serve as the second assistant referee. Soaru Phatsoane who hails from Lesotho will be the first assistant then Joshua Bondo from Botswana will serve as the reserve referee.
The match will be the first ever for Kamaku as a center referee at AFCON. He has however served as fourth official in two matches already at the current tournament – in the Tunisia versus Angola and Tunisia versus Mali matches.
As for Cheruiyot, this will be his third match at the current tournament, having officiated in the Morocco – Namibia and Cameroon – Ghana matches.
