Tanzanian champions Simba Sports Club have confirmed the capture of Gor Mahia FC attacking midfielder Francis Kahata on a two-year contract.
Kahata, part of Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne’s charges who recently represented Kenya at the ongoing African Cup of Nations, was a free agent with the expiry of his contract at Gor Mahia and penned his signature with the red of Dar Es Salaam on Thursday 4 July.
According to the club’s official social media pages, Kahata joins among other new signings, Ibrahim Ajib who returns to the club after a brief spell with Young Africans SC.
”Kahata Francis, 27, had joined Simba Sports Club and will be in the colours of Simba for the upcoming season. He joins Simba from Gor Mahia where he won the Kenyan Premier League title three times and was named the club’s midfielder of the year in the 2018-19 season,” reads a statement from the club.
Kahata leaves Gor Mahia after a three-year stay, having won the KPL title three times and also represented the club at the continental level.
He becomes the ninth player roped in at the Tanzanian club aiming to go a step better than their 2018-19 CAF Champions League exploits where the team was eliminated at the semi-final level.
Other new names at the club include Ibrahim Ajib, Brazilians Gerson Fraga, Wilker Henrique and Tairone Santos, Sharaf Eldin (Sudan), Deo Kanda (DR Congo) and Beno Kakolanya (Tz).
