For a couple of months now it has been mooted that Bandari FC were on the verge of losing one of the club’s more high profile player in custodian Farouk Shikalo to Yanga FC of Tanzania.
The rumours forced a response from the Mombasa based side last month who tried to quell the situation, but it took another twist while Shikalo was on national team duty at the AFCON finals in Egypt when pictures surfaced on social media of him with a Yanga official putting pen to paper.
He has however come out to put the record straight and to the relief of the Bandari fans, has claimed that he is still part of the club until otherwise.
“I am still a Bandari player and I have not signed for any other club,” the Kenyan international said in his first interview after jetting back from Egypt.
“Yanga have made contact yes and we met with some of the officials in Egypt but nothing was forthcoming.
“They (Yanga) asked to meet with me and that was it. I am a Bandari player and my focus is to help the team claim the league crown next season and perform admirably in the Confederations Cup,” he said.
Shikalo has already linked up with the team in Rwanda where they will be taking part at this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup tournament, a gesture that adds more weight to his comments.
