After a season and a half at Sofapaka FC, Pistone Mutamba has called it quits and rejoined Wazito FC, the club he left to link up with Batoto Ba Mungu back in June of 2018.
Mutamba is the latest acquisition in Wazito’s splurge in the transfer market and returns back to the club that gave him the platform to showcase his talents at the highest level in the country.
Upon joining the side led by John Baraza, he set high targets but it all ends on a low as he returns to the club that molded him.
At Sofapaka, competing for places with established heads – Steven Waruru, Kepha Aswani and Ugandan Umaru Kasumba confined Mutamba to a squad player and his ambition of bagging the Golden Boot as stated upon entry proved to be just a mirage.
On his first full season with Sofapaka, the 2018/19 campaign, he finished with a meager three goals, five goals lesser than his tally in the previous season.
The lanky forward led Wazito to realizing a topflight berth back in 2017 as his 12 goals helped propel them to winning promotion to the KPL with a top two finish in the NSL.
He left midway the 2018 season – that eventually saw Wazito suffer relegation – having netted five times in the league.
He returns to help the team in their second stub at the KPL after they won the NSL title last season. The confirmation, on Wazito’s official Twitter handle, however doesn’t state the contract duration.
