Bandari open CECAFA charge with a draw as TP Mazembe falls

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Bandari FC, one of the country’s representatives at the ongoing CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda, opened their campaign on Sunday 7 July with a 1 – 1 draw with Ugandan champions KCCA FC in Huye.

A second minute goal from Hassan Abdalla, a well placed tap in from a corner kick was all Bandari needed to pace up the game but they were pegged back in the 67th minute by Saddam Juma.

Joint second

The result sees Bandari and KCCA settle joint second in Group B after the opening round of matches following Azam FC’s 1 – 0 win over Rwanda’s Mukura Victory.

In Group A matches played on the same day, KMC and Atlabara settled for a 1 – 1 draw while Rayon Sports saw off guest team TP Mazembe 1 – 0.
