Cheche, Were among eight players released by AFC Leopards

AFC Leopards have confirmed the release of eight first team players who featured for the team last season as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

Among the eight released are Kenyan internationals David Cheche Ochieng and Paul Were who leave the club after the expiration of the short term deals they both signed in last season’s mid-transfer window.

The other players are Shami Kibwana whose half season loan deal from KCB ended with the conclusion of the last campaign as well as the foreign contingent of Congolese striker Wayi Yeka, Rwandese shotstopper Eric Ndayishimiye, Ugandan forward Ivan Ssekeza and Tanzanian midfielder Marcel Kaheza.

Kaheza had been loaned to the 13 time KPL champions by Tanzanian champions Simba SC at the start of last season.

A statement from the club posted on social media has also confirmed that head coach Andre Casa Mbungo is on the lookout to add more firepower to his team who up until now have roped in four new signings.

The club has so far enlisted the services of four (4) players and we are nearing the completion of signing three more to beef up the areas identified by the technical bench. The players shall be unveiled soon at their intensive training camp.
