Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side AFC Leopards will not be with right back Yusuf Mainge for the 2019/20 season, as the club has confirmed the defender is headed to Slovakia.
According to a post on the AFC Leopards official Facebook handle, the defender is set to serve a season long loan deal at Slovakian top flight side FK Pohronie.
The confirmation however gives no more details regarding the contractual agreements between the two transacting clubs.
“Yusuf Nasr Mainge has left the club . He’ll be joining a Slovekian team FK Pohronie on a season long loan,” the post notes.
Mainge has been with Leopards for two seasons now, having been plucked right after high school.

His departure will not just affect plans at AFC Leopards, with coach Casa Mbungo now forced to seek a replacement in time for the new season, it will also have an impact on the Kenya national team set for the African Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifiers.
Mainge was among the players called up to the CHAN qualifiers provisional squad and now head coach Sebastien Migne will have to check out other options.
At Pohronie, Mainge will be the second foreigner in the playing unit, joining Ukrainian Artur Pidruchnyi in Milan Nemec’s team.
Pohronie is a newly promoted side in the Slovak top flight, after finishing top in the second tier in the 2019/20 season and should Mainge be ready, he could get his debut on Saturday 20 July when the team faces reigning champions Slovan Bratislava.
