80 percent turnout for Harambee Starlets ahead of Malawi Olympics Qualifier match

31 out of 39 Harambee Starlets players initially called up to the Kenya women’s national team took part in the team’s first training session held on Monday 15th afternoon, having checked into camp on Sunday, July 14, 2019.

Starlets are in camp preparing for their upcoming Olympics Qualifier against Malawi and the missing group, prime among them Winnie Kanyotu, Elizabeth Wambui and Wincate Kaari, temporarily ruled out of this week’s camp following injuries they picked up during last weekend’s Women Premier League matches.

Starlets will face Malawi in the first leg of the Olympics Qualifiers on August 28, 2019, with the second leg set to be played on September 1, 2019. This will be the second round of the qualifiers with the Kenyan team having gotten easy sailing through in the first round.

A good outing against Malawi will then set up Kenya against the winner between Gabon and Ghana.

With the domestic Kenya Women’s Premier League having resumed over the weekend, the camp will break on Friday- just before the second leg of the KWPL enters its second round. Another camp has been scheduled for the week after.

Below is the provisional squad initially called up.
