Four time Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Ulinzi Stars have announced the capture of Kelvin Thairu in preparation for the 2019/20 season.
Thairu, formerly of Mount Kenya United, has been a long term target for the Nakuru based club, according to the team’s coach Benjamin Nyangweso, who hopes this swoop goes a long way in solving his team’s attacking woes.
“Thairu is a good player; we’ve been following him for a while now and we are happy to have him. Tactically, he comes in to boost our midfield, especially on the attacking front because we really needed that.
“He has good supply of balls in midfield and we are looking to reap a lot from that,” the coach says on the club’s official website.
The midfielder is already in camp with his new team mates and Nyangweso is confident that once he gets his footing in the team, he will be of great help.
“He has started training and I expect him to gel well with the others as time goes; that is the essence of having him in preseason,” Nyangweso adds.
Thairu skippered the Mount Kenya United side in his final game, which incidentally, was against Ulinzi Stars, a game that ended in a 4 – 0 win for Ulinzi Stars.
