Shambi, Otanga added to CHAN provisional squad ahead of Tanzania clash

Ibrahim Shambi and Derrick Otanga have been included in the Harambee Stars squad that is expected to take on Taifa Stars of Tanzania in the upcoming Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) Qualifiers match scheduled for July 28, 2019, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Otanga- newly roped in at Wazito FC, joins Ulinzi Stars midfielder Shambi as the latest inclusions in the Stars squad that set to kick off residential training on Friday 19, ahead of the first leg.

CHAN, a competition that is exclusively reserved for players actively featuring in a county’s domestic leagues, has never had Harambee Stars as a participant in the finals and currently has Morocco as the defending champions.

An aggregate win over the Taifa Stars will see the Harambee Stars come up against Sudan in the second and final qualifying round, making one of the 16 teams in the competition to be hosted in Ethiopia.

Kenya’s return match against Tanzania will be played on August 4, at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
