Wazito FC’s Derrick Otanga and Ulinzi Stars’ Ibrahim Shambi have been included in the CHAN squad that is currently preparing to take on their counterparts from Tanzania in a two-legged qualifier for the continental showpiece.
The two players follow Bandari FC’s Abdalla Hassan who was called up earlier in the week.
The call-ups are meant to offset the ineligibility of Francis Kahata, Cliff Nyakeya and Allan Wanga who were named in the provisional squad but are no longer eligible for the tournament.
Kahata and Nyakeya are not eligible as a result of their moves abroad in recent weeks while Wanga has retired from international duty after 12 years of service.
Otanga’s call-up is his first and it marks another milestone for the forward in 2019 which has been a breakthrough year for the former Sony Sugar man.
Shambi on his part makes the grade up from the U23’s.
Sebastien Migne’s men are set to hit camp on Friday ahead of the first-leg match-up between the regional rivals set for Sunday 28 July in Dar Es Salaam. The return-leg will be played a week later in Nairobi on Sunday 4 August at the MISC Kasarani.
