Victor Wanyama will return for pre-season training with Tottenham Hotspur next week as has been confirmed by the Premier League side on their official portal.
Wanyama, Serge Aurier and Davinson Sanchez were all granted extra time off after summer engagements with their respective national teams.
Wanyama and Aurier participated at the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt with Kenya and Ivory Coast while Sanchez was with Colombia at this year’s Coppa America finals.
“Serge Aurier, Davinson Sanchez and Victor Wanyama will return to Enfield to start pre-season training next week following commitments with their national teams at summer tournaments,” part of a post of Spurs’ official website reads.
This confirms that the trio will not take part at Spurs’ tour of Singapore which will see them face off against Juventus and Manchester United. They could however be available for the Audi Cup tournament in Germany where Mauricio Pochettino’s side is set to go up against Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
The upcoming season is set to be a big one for Wanyama who has seen his place in the team shaken up by injury, a situation that has prompted the team to bring in highly rated French midfielder Tanguay Ndombele from Lyon.
Wanyama, who became the 6th captain in Kenya’s history to lead Harambee Stars at an AFCON tournament, is currently in the country seeing through the Wanyama Roya Cup, a boys and girls football tournament organized by him and big brother MacDonald Mariga.
The two day tournament is set to kick off on Saturday 20 July at the St. Mary’s School.
